A Newcastle based digital marketing agency has helped one of the leading mobile phone networks to increase its website sales conversion rate by 30 per cent over the past month after carrying out a project to make the site more user friendly.
Talkmobile teamed up with digital marketing specialists Silverbean to help increase the conversion rate from site visitors to www.talkmobile.co.uk into actual sales of SIM cards and (contracts?).
The website wasn’t converting at the levels expected following its launch in xx so prior to investing in a significant marketing campaign, Talkmobile enlisted Silverbean’s expertise to carry out a usability study to help realise the site’s full potential.
Silverbean took a two pronged approach to the project which involved utilising analytical data packages to gain an understanding of visitors to the website and employing best practice methods to further generate sales.
Key areas of analysis included the effectiveness of the homepage, visitor navigation paths and identifying the top entry and drop-off points as well as the top converting keywords for the site.
Silverbean also made recommendations on the overall design of the site to make sure key information, including promotion, was visible to visitors and that it was easy to navigate.
John Ryder, head of client services at Silverbean oversaw the Talkmobile usability project. He said: “Talkmobile recognised the need for a more user friendly website to increase the conversion rate of visitors into sales.
“We were really pleased to have the chance to demonstrate our expertise with a leading telecommunications firm and it’s fantastic to see that as a result of our recommendations they have seen an increase in conversion rates by 30 per cent in just a month.”
Andrew Beckitt, head of online business at 20:20 Mobile, Talkmobile’s online solutions partner, was impressed by the service provided by Silverbean and by the impact of the usability study on sales. He said: “Silverbean really helped us to understand the front end efficiency of the website. The combination of their expertise in website usability and access to the latest technologies have had a huge impact on online sales for Talkmobile.”
