Have Google created the next phenomenon in Social Networking, or have they simply jumped on the bandwagon too late with no new ideas for the congested Social scene? Neil M Hancock, Search Marketing Manager at Silverbean explorers Google Buzz
Google, the undoubted leader in the search engine industry, has once again attempted to break into a new market place. Following hot on the heals of their Browser, Google Chrome and their phone, the Nexus One comes Google Buzz, their first foray into the social network industry.
Google Buzz, similar to Twitter is a status updates based social network platform. The idea, like Twitter, allows you to follow and also to be followed by users of the network. However unlike Twitter status update responses are grouped into a conversation, similar to Facebook’s status update feature.
This allows you to drop in and out of a conversation without missing any comments from your specific conversation.
Google Buzz runs through Google Mail, therefore you need a Google Mail account to be able to access Buzz, but a Google Mail account is free and easy to set up.
Here is a short walkthrough of Google Buzz provided by Google.
