The number of apps now available for the iPod and iphone has reached silly numbers. It's impossible to keep track on how many there, and even moreso to determine how many are good. John Ryder share's his thoughts on which applications he favours most as an online marketing professional.
I've had my iphone for over two years now and although I was a slow starter when it came to downloading and using apps, I can now safely say that I'm hooked on them. Whilst the majority of them are 'me too' copies, useless or just poor, there are certainly some real gems.
More interestingly (in my capacity to write content for the Silver Tongue), there are some good apps for online marketing profesisionals.
ReputationScanner
This tool gives me access to instant news on particular brand, product, person or company. It's rather like Google Alerts but with an iPhone interface - you define the topic of interest and determine other criteria such as timeframe or a certain website you want to monitor. ReputationScanner then presents an overview of the results.

Naturally, it's not going to replace any sophisticated brand monitoring software you have at your disposal, but it is a handy overview tool for anyone wanting to keep up to date whilst not having access to a PC. At £1.19 its very well priced too.
SimpleSense
Anyone with a blog or affiliate site that generates money from AdSense will appreciate this one.
Quite simply, SimpleSense logs into your google AdSense account and displays KPI stats for a range of pre-defined timescales.
Simple, but very handy if you're like me and want to check on things regularly.
AnalyticsApp.com
Google Analytics is a hugely important tool for anyone working in online marketing today; so it's no surprise that there are several Google Analytics apps to choose from. This application is in my opinion the best Google Analytics App.

If I am honest, it's the best of quite a bad bunch. In it's favour, AnalyticsApp.com does give me the ability to access multiple analytics accounts and view up to 55 reports; but it's missing key data I want to access. For example, one can't determine how much sales revenue was generated in any given time period for an eCommerce site.
It's quite slow as well, but a good application otherwise I think.
Wordpress
This app gets my vote because it's the only iPhone app that lets you write posts, upload photos, edit pages, and manage comments on your blog from your iPhone or iPod touch.
