Neil Robbins is managing director of Silverbean, an internet marketing agency based in Newcastle. Here he describes his working week
Monday AM: Meet a potential new client in the retail sector looking to boost its online sales. Head back to our office at the Hoults Estate to catch up with the team and prioritise workloads for the week ahead.
Monday PM: Grab a quick lunch and catch up on some emails and phone calls before heading to Durham to meet with a client to review the impact of a search engine optimisation campaign. After a typically hectic day I head home to spend some time with my wife and put the kids to bed.
Tuesday AM: Arrive at the office as normal at 8.30 and catch up on some emails before meeting with my business partners for a new business update. This is an exciting time for Silverbean with some interesting projects in the pipeline within new sectors including retail and travel.
Tuesday PM: 5pm comes and unusually I manage to pack up and head home early to take my eldest son swimming – never a dull moment!
Wednesday AM: My plans for the morning are thrown into disarray when a client requests some information about an ongoing project to meet a tight deadline. My schedule is pushed back but I shouldn’t complain as this makes the job that much more interesting
Wednesday PM: Have a lunch meeting with a potential new supplier. Back at the office I meet with the accountants before catching up on some client calls and emails.
Thursday AM: An early start and I head down to Yorkshire with my colleague Steven to meet a new client, a major retail brand.
Thursday PM: The meeting takes up most of the day but I catch up on phone calls and emails on the journey back home. Head home and with a babysitter in place I head out for dinner with my wife – a good opportunity to catch up an unwind after another busy day
Friday AM: I have scheduled staff appraisals for most of the day. With an expanding team it’s important to make sure everyone’s happy and to iron out any issues on a regular basis.
Friday PM: After work the team head into town for a few well-deserved beers – roll on the weekend!
