Tuesday 04 August 2009

The microblogging site Twitter has become one of the most linked-to sites in email marketing, according to a recent survey.

Results from Email Data Source indicate a rise in email marketing campaigns that contain a link to the site.

According to the research, the first online marketing campaign that contained a link to Twitter appeared in 2007. By the end of the year, 215 links had been made and in 2008 the number rose by 1,081 per cent to 2,540.

The figures for 2009 reveal that 9,506 email marketing links to Twitter had been sent in June, compared to 1,181 in January.

Facebook is the second-most prominent social media site to feature in the statistics, with results in June totalling 8,636.

Email Data Source has a database of over 17 million emails dated from 2003 and has more than 100 clients for whom the company provides analysis of email marketing messages to aid their profitability.
